How to view images in Google Earth in 3D

It is now possible to place Google Earth in 3D to visualize the environments of practically any city in the world. And that can be done with a high level of detail, in addition to traditional maps with satellite images

This option is ideal for navigating the platform more realistically, as streets, buildings, and other points are displayed as they are in real life. This way, you can anticipate visiting places of interest around the world, such as tourist monuments. Next, learn how to view 3D imagery in Google Earth for PC, Android, and iPhone (iOS).

What you need to know first

You need a web browser that supports WebGL if you want to see Google Maps in 3D. Most modern browsers, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari, support WebGL, but they need to be kept up to date. Here is where you can find out if your browser supports WebGL.

Systems with older operating systems also can’t show 3D images. You’ll need to be running the latest version of Windows 7, Mac OS 10.12.0 or later, Chrome OS, or Linux on your computer.

Google Maps will load in Lite mode on computers that don’t meet these needs. In the bottom right corner of Google Maps, a small lightning icon shows this. Lite mode has most of the features of Google Maps, but it doesn’t have 3D imagery or other features from Google Earth.

Last, you can’t see 3D in all places on Google Maps just yet. Most likely, 3D won’t show small towns and places far away.

Google Earth in 3D on a PC

1. Go to Google Earth (earth.google.com) in your browser;
2. In the left side menu, click on “Map style”;
3. In “Layers”, enable the switch “Enable 3D constructions”;
4. If you like, check other desired filters, such as changing the map style and enabling animated clouds.

Google Earth in 3D on mobile

1. Open the Google Earth application on your cell phone;
2. Tap the three-line menu in the top left corner;
3. Go to “Map style”;
4. In “Display settings”, enable the switch “Enable 3D constructions”;
5. Pinch the mobile screen to zoom in or out.

Remember that the feature to put Google Earth in 3D can make the program a little slower since it requires more processing on your device. You can disable the feature at any time by following the same steps as in the tutorials above.

In addition, Google Earth 3D buildings are not completely clear, and other elements of the searched point (cars and buses on the streets, people, trees) may be inconsistent.
